Things are happening

Hello, busiest, most stressful weekend of the year. I’m glad you’re here. And I’m looking forward to your passing.

For months, Zach and I have been prepping for this weekend’s events. Zach left on a jet plane today for Seattle where he’ll be competing in (and crushing) a moot court competition. On our way to the airport, Zach and I reminisced about the time we teamed up for a moot court competition — and lost. Oh how far we’ve come. I’m so thankful that Zach encouraged me to compete. And I’m so proud of him for stepping up his game every year. We’re gonna be awesome lawyers … or just awesome.

My moot court competition is this weekend, too. Only I won’t be competing because my chapter of Law Students for Reproductive Justice is hosting a regional conference. I was the brief writer for this competition so here’s hoping they don’t really need me for oral argument. Sorry, team. I’ve got a bigger fish to fry.

This conference should be great. If everything goes according to plan, I’ll be the happiest camper on earth. And if it doesn’t go according to plan, I’ll still be relieved when it’s over. Not only am I playing host to four out-of-towners (they’re staying at our apartment), but I’m also coordinating the day’s events, which include six speakers (one of whom is a state representative), approximately 30 law students, 1 representative from the LSRJ national office, and countless details.

Thankfully, I have an incredible group of chapter leaders who have helped make this Saturday’s conference seem doable. Kat, Calli, and Jade (and Zach, too, even though he won’t be here for the actual event) are my favorite kind of people. Seriously.

OK, back to work. I just wanted to take a minute to chronicle the insanity.

  1. Unfortunately, I’m not bringing home a banner, but I do have lots of hilarious stories to tell. I hope the LSRJ conference is going/has gone well, and I look forward to some hilarious stories when I come home.
